MAINS PARALLELING PANELS
|
|
Under the Electric Lighting (Clauses) Act 1899, a person or company having its own generating plant was permitted to operate generators in parallel with Electricity board networks. However, it was not until the Energy Act 1983 that such persons or companies had the right to use the public system to transmit electricity from one location to another. It is now a requirement of Regulation 26 of the Electricity Supply Regulations 1988 that any generator that can be connected in parallel with the Electricity Boards network must comply to the requirements of schedule 3 part II of those regulations. Mertech’s Mains Paralleling Panels offer the Electrical control and hardware to allow the connection of a private generator to the Electricity Boards network as specified in the regulations. The standard panels described here are for connection of single generators at voltages upto 440V 3 or 4 wire 50 Hz. Although Mertech supply the Generator Protection and hardware there are many other requirements regarding the Electricity Boards earthing, approval procedures, safety procedures and testing etc. that will need to be addressed. We therefore recommend that the regulations be read carefully and discussions with your local authorities take place before proceeding. |
